Festival of Carols

'Twas the afternoon before Festival of Carols,

when all through the dorm Not a student was stirring,

which is definitely not the norm

The lights were hung on the tree with care

In hopes that parents and friends soon would be there

The students were nervous as they donned choir robe threads

While versions of their songs spun through their heads;

And Quaile in his suit, and I in my Sabbath best

had just settled down in a pew to be blessed

When up on the stage, there arose such a noise

Which could only be created by DAA girls and boys

All eyes on the choir, they appeared in a flash

Starting with African Alleluia, which made quite a splash

Jill Donald performed Breath of Heaven, hands aglow

with sign language, white gloves and black lights below

When over by the piano, what should appear

But Gina Kim playing and Angelica Miller singing clear

Next came the band, to the delight of many moms

Led by none other than our own John McCombs

Now, trumpets! Now saxophones! Now clarinets!

On horns! On chimes! Let's do a song no one forgets!

A very special music with trumpets was next to go

Performed by Loren Nelson and freshman Erik Heo

Bells performed a cheery God Rest Ye merry Gentlemen

And afterwards were chorused by the audience saying Amen!

D.A.K. performed several magical numbers plus

They led the crowd in a chorus of We Wish You a Merry Christmas

While this poem hardly does justice to all the musical selections,

We didn't want to split the story into too many directions

Lexi Dossenko ended Festival of Carols with a poem about a diet

That to the delight of all, was quite the riot

Cookies and punch were served afterwards in the hall

Memories of Christmas' past were shared by one and all

All of the students and staff here at DAA

All have something they would like to say

To our family and friends, both far and near

Merry Christmas to all, and to all, a Happy New Year
