NHS Vespers

The National Honor Society organization recognizes and promotes scholarship, service, leadership, and quality character across the country. The majority of American high schools have a chapter and DAA is no exception!  DAA's chapter inducted four new members into this elite society: Brienne Engelhart  (10th), Kathryn Reese ( 10th), Jordan Stolz (10th), and Rebecca O'Hare (12th). They join the ranks with Matthew Boyko (11th) and Leanna Quaile (11th) and Angelica Miller (12th).  Jolene Engelhart spoke at the induction ceremony regarding the importance of incorporating God's character into the NHS standards.  To become a member, a student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, hold class or club offices and lead out in spiritual, service, and athletic activities, and exhibit an outstanding Christian character.

At this year’s annual bake sale, held at the close of the SA talent show, $846 was raised. The money will be used to fund transportation and services projects, pay for pins and certificates, and sponsor the NHS Renaissance Scholar Scholarship.  Last year, Tabitha Schumacher was awarded a $300 scholarship. This year’s recipient, still to be decided, will receive $500. This award is given to the junior or senior NHS member who exhibits high achievement in all areas of academic, social, physical, and spiritual endeavors.  Congratulations to the new inductees, and cheers to a quality school year.
