DAA Students Clean in Carrington

On the rainy Friday morning of April 30, thirty-eight Dakota Adventist Academy students and eight staff loaded the bus for a community service day at the Lovingly Used Thrift Store in Carrington, ND.  Invited to participate alongside conference workers, a pastor, and many church members, the students helped to clean, straighten, and organize this community ministry.  The students worked as faculty families with their staff leader in order to tackle the entire store.

Straightening vintage clothing and books, stacking antique china and kitchen wares, and sorting boxes upon boxes, the students were surprised by the treasures they found in every part of the store.  A large part of the day was filled with organizing the basement, packed with a variety of items, some unfortunately unsellable.  The students helped load 8-10 truckloads to be recycled.  A nice lunch break was provided by the Dakota Conference at the local Pizza Ranch.  During the ride back to the school, students shared stories with each other about the discoveries they made throughout the day, excited about their next community service activity.
